Hello, coders! It’s time for a week 1 update! We’ve been working hard – how about you?
Before we talk about some of the things we’ve got going on, we’d like to thank you all for your feedback and support. You’ve made us confident that we’re on the right path to turning you into professional developers!
We’ve got some awesome new ideas for the site, for the short-term and the long-term. We can’t reveal everything we’re working on – we have to keep some secrets, after all – but here are a few things we’ve got in store for next few weeks.
Are you ready?
It’s Ruby Time
Surely you’ve finished The Basics by now, right? If so, then you’re ready to dive into some real code – and we’ve got the perfect place to start!
We’ve just released the first lesson in our Introducing Ruby course, which will put your new knowledge to use with real-life code. Ruby is a super cool programming language designed to make programmers feel comfortable, which makes it a great language for beginners to start with. Go check it out!
You understand a concept when you can use it. You master it when you can explain it with your own words. That’s why we ask you to share your knowledge with each other at the end of each lesson.
This is so important to us that we decided to build a community forum where you can ask questions and help your fellow students understand each lesson. The more you help, the closer you get to mastering code!
A New Design(er)
Here’s the most exciting news: we have a new team member! We’re incredibly proud to introduce Guillaume, a world-class artist who will be joining OptionalBits as our lead designer. You deserve the best, and that’s exactly why we brought Guillaume on board.
This also means that OptionalBits will be getting a fresh new look in the coming weeks. We’ve worked with Guillaume a lot in the past and his work has always blown us away. We know you’re going to love the new design he’s got planned for you!
Help Us Build Something Great
Those are just small examples of what we’ve got in the works – just wait until you see the big stuff. But before we can get to those, we need your help!
We’re dedicated to keeping OptionalBits free for everyone. To do that, we need early adopters like yourself to share OptionalBits everywhere you can. The more users we have, the more lessons we can write and features we can add to help you become a professional developer!
Thank you again for the continued support and feedback. Together, we can all build the best place for coding in the real world!
